Hotel Goldener Hirsch

Salzburg:  Getreidegasse 37, 5020

An Enchanting Location

Situated on the renowned Getreidegasse road, the five-star hotel introduces guests to the city’s captivating character. Across from the Festival Hall and down the street from Mozart’s house, we are just a short walk from designer boutiques and the Salzach River. The Hotel Goldener Hirsch is Salzburg’s premier host for both a stay in the city and unforgettable, authentic Austrian meals.

The historical Hotel Goldener Hirsch building, first documented in 1407, assumed a public role when it opened as an inn, the Güldener Hirsch in 1564—a time when the Salzburg’s population numbered just 5,000.  The city began its ascend with the rise of Mozart, who was born a minute's walk from the Hotel Goldener Hirsch in 1756. In 1920, it declared itself a leader of the international music and drama scene by introducing the Salzburg Festival, which has become a city institution and global attraction.

The Hotel Goldener Hirsch was established as the festival’s premier residence following its purchase in 1939 by Countess Harriet Walderdorff. After World War II, Countess Walderdorff began her quest to refurbish the interior with simple and contemporary décor, creating a country residence in the city center.  Boasting a new pink exterior, the hotel re-opened on April 29, 1948. Its casual yet sophisticated style soon became the model for Western Austrian hotels.

Little has changed since Countess Walderdorff purchased the hotel; the facades of the original and adjoining building—acquired in the 1970s—remain simple and the interior elegantly eclectic. Guests marvel at the carefully acquired décor: a painting, a wooden sculpture, a bar constructed from an antique trunk. The original antiques, handmade furniture, and native rag rugs are opulent and discreet, and honor 600 years of hotel history.

Hotel Wandl

Vienna:  Petersplatz 9
phone 43-1-534 55-0; fax 43-1-534 5577
http://www.hotel-wandl.com

The Hotel is located in the center of Vienna 200 m from St. Stephans Square. Hotel Wandl is surely part of Viennese tradition. Situated in the heart of Vienna, the hotel dates back to 1700, when Court Chamber Counsellor and Laxenburg Palace Govenor, Jakob Metz, built this house.

Joseph Georg Daum bought the house in 1851 and converted it to a hotel. He installed all items of comfort according to Parisian models. In 1854, Johann Wandl whose name it carries to this day, bought the hotel. Later he had an elevator installed, as well as bathrooms - this made the hotel the most elegant of this times.
An uncountable member of guests have since then enjoyed the harmony of traditional Viennese hospitality and modern comfort.

The guest is confronted with the history of this house - still owned by the same family - with its flair, its warmth and conviction which Hotel Wandl endearment to keep against all fashions and short-lived currents. The Wandl is a traditional family-run hotel.

Hotel Palace Praha
in the center of Prague

The luxury 5-star hotel is located directly in the historical and vibrant city center of Prague, just a few steps from Wenceslas Square and Old Town Square. All the major historical sightseeing attractions of the Czech Republic, as well as Prague´s business, shopping and entertainment areas, are within walking distance of the hotel.

This architectural landmark has been a symbol of hospitality and luxury life style since 1909. The new Executive Rooms & Suites with a view of Prague Castle and the State Opera fulfil all the requirements of pure luxury accommodation.

The hotel, built in the Viennese Art Nouveau style, was opened on 21 April in 1909. Things were to change in 1924, when the new owner, Emanuel Oppel, made a point of turning the facility into a competitive 5-star hotel. Soon after, the Palace Hotel became a center of Prague's social and cultural life. Josephine Baker was one of the hotel´s first prominent guests. Even the great opera voice Emma Destinová and her professional partner Enrico Caruso dwelled here on several occasions. Two of the function rooms were named after them.

Hotel Palace Praha´s first era of long duration came to an end when it was closed on 1 January 1986 for a "sensitive" renovation.  Its original character has been preserved thanks to the "house-in-a-house" renovation approach, i.e. leaving the outer walling untouched.

The hotel reopened in 1989, and has been providing top-class service ever since, making many a world's celebrity feel at home once again. The last renovation of the Hotel Palace Praha was during the years 2006 and 2007.
